Passage to An Unchartered World

Featuring music from across the globe, the journey begins with refined masterpieces of European impressionists, and gradually moves through Spanish and African dance rhythms, to contemporary works that are evocative of nature and beauty. The concert is brought to life by mallet percussion instruments and ethnic drums, and features composers including Dvorak, Ravel, Steve Reich and Michael Burritt.

A Classical Celebration of Joy!

Join us for a joy-filled evening of baroque and classical favorites heard through a fresh voice of mallet percussion! The concert will include excerpts of Water Music by Handel, selections from the Four Seasons by Vivaldi, two Mozart Piano sonatas played on marimba and vibraphone, organ fugues by J. S. Bach played by a marimba quartet, and other works by Telemann and Rossini. Tickets for students and youth are always Free!

Chara Percussion from Orleans, Massachusetts, seeks to bring a fresh voice to classical repertoire through percussion ensemble, exploring music ranging from early polyphony, to classical, impressionist, and contemporary works. Chara is a performing ensemble of Arts Empowering Life.

Workshops are from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. with lunch and snacks provided. (8:45 a.m. registration).

Chara Percussion Ensemble performed a concert as part of a Lenten Concert Series at the Church of the Transfiguration (Orleans, MA) that explored the Characters of Christ’s sorrows, and included works by Vivaldi, Handel, Mozart, Eben, and Bruckner. The series was performed both in-person and livestreamed. Read more
